Use Of Buggies

To use a golf buggy at Mackerel Beach you must be aware of the rules - both the road rules as enforced by NSW Transport and NSW Police and those that are community imposed.

  • It is illegal for anyone without a current drivers license to operate a golf cart.
  • As Mackerel is made up of three gazetted roads buggies must be registered and insured as per any other motor vehicle.
  • Buggies should only be operated at a walking speed being mindful of pedestrians and wildlife.
  • Ensure you keep to the path in the middle of the road to avoid deterioration of the grass areas.
  • Keep dust to a minimum.
  • Buggies should be parked west of the Community Fire Box on Monash Ave. Please don’t park buggies on the beachfront.

Summing up, the use of buggies is discouraged by the community except for transporting goods to and from the ferry.
